Position: Licensed Practical Nurse

Full-time: 40 hours per week (available for overnight shift, 8 and 12 hours shifts available)

Judy Retterath Withdrawal Management Center (formerly Mission Care Detox Center), opened in 1978 as Minnesota’s first licensed detoxification program. Forty years later, our facility continues to be a leader and innovator in Minnesota’s early recovery community, operating as one of the state’s first withdrawal management programs. Currently under renovations, there has been no more exciting time to join our team as we restore our facility, rebuild our programming and pioneer best practices for this emerging field.

Job Summary
As a member of a collaborative multi-disciplinary team, the RN/LPN will provide health care services and coordinate admissions and discharges for the patients undergoing detoxification from alcohol and other substances. Serve as the Responsible Staff Person on each shift.
Supervision: Reports directly to the RN Nurse Supervisor.
Please note: anticipated start date will be February 2022, dependent upon Program’s reopening.
Position Responsibilities
- Order and administer medication in an appropriate and prompt method following defined policies.
- Ensure that the program does not exceed the required staff-to-patient ratios, and must inform admitting staff of the current staffed capacity of the program for that shift.
- Ensure a safe environment, including prevention of potential injury to clients and staff.
- Complete visual medical assessments of all clients at time of admission and through formal medical assessment.
- Communicate with physician regarding medical orders, transfer and client incidents, providing appropriate emergency referrals to outside agencies.
- Be sensitive to clients need and make decisions based on client rights.
- Attend all staff meetings, in-service trainings, and quarterly emergency procedure reviews.
- Be sensitive to the diverse backgrounds of residents and their families, and act in ways that project fairness and equality.
- Act as the responsible staff person.
Required Experience and Qualifications
- Hold a current RN/LPN license to practice in the State of Minnesota.
- Minimum one year of experience in nursing, preferably in acute setting.
- be free from substance use problems as a condition of continuing employment.
- Knowledge of addiction, co-occurring mental health disorders and the complications of withdrawal.
- Prior training or experience in assessing needs of adolescents and seniors or completion of program training within thirty days of employment.
- Computer proficiency required; including the ability to use e-mail, navigate the internet, and complete basic data entry in an electronic health record system.
- Ability to work well with people from diverse racial, cultural, social and economic backgrounds.
Salary and Benefits
Salary range: $27.00 to $30.00 an hour with 0.50 cents overnight differential pay and $1.00 weekend differential pay.
Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience. Benefits include health and dental insurance, 403b plan, short and long-term disability insurance, life insurance, ten paid holidays and PTO (paid time off).
