Position: Cook-Food Services Coordinator

Position Summary
Hart House is a transitional housing program for women in recovery. Located in St. Paul, Hart House has 24-beds and provides women with safe, sober housing, goal-planning, advocacy, support and information. The program is staffed 24/7 and provides three meals daily. We have an opening for a full-time Food Services Supervisor!
This position will be responsible for providing nourishing and well-balanced meals for our Hart House residents.
- Provide for nutritious, well-balanced meals for residents, develop menus which meet nutritional standards; menus to be approved by dietician, prepare weekday lunch & dinners and ensure that food and supplies are available for preparation of other meals and bag lunches.
- Maintain safety and sanitation standards consistent with program policies, procedures and applicable regulations, ensure sanitary condition in the kitchen, dining room and storage areas.
- Maintain purchases within approved budget, maximizing utilization of low-cost and no-cost food resources (e.g. food banks, food gleaning programs and food outlets).
- Ensure cost-effective purchases of food and food service supplies, order and receive food and kitchen supplies, maintain purchases within approved budget, maximizing utilization of low-cost and no-cost food resources (e.g. food banks, good gleaning programs and food outlets).
- Provide information and training on kitchen procedures, including health and safety standards, for residents and staff.
- Meet with program manager to review quarterly quality improvement dietary reports, including resident food survey responses, and approve menus.
- Maintain confidentiality of all residents in accordance with confidentiality laws.
- Maintain food service manual in consultation with the dietitian, containing procedures regarding purchasing, preparation, sanitation, emergencies and other related topics.
Required Experience and Qualifications
- Minimum of 1-year experience in food service including but not limited to: running a commercial kitchen, meal planning, serving, menu planning, ordering, inventory control, and food preparation and storage.
- Current Minnesota ServSafe certification required.
- Computer proficiency required; including the ability to use e-mail, navigate the internet, and complete basic data entry in a database system.
- Ability to work well with people from diverse racial, cultural, social and economic backgrounds.
- Minimum one year freedom from chemical use problems prior to hire, and maintain freedom from chemical use problems.
- Ability to pass a criminal background check.
- Must be able to lift and/or carry up to 35 pounds.
- Must be able to bend, stoop, kneel and climb (ascend and descend) flights of stairs.
- Other lifting or physical requirements as added from time to time, or as required to perform the essential functions of this position.
Compensation
Pay starts at $17.00/hour.
Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience. Benefits include health and dental insurance, 403b plan, short and long-term disability insurance, life insurance, ten paid holidays and PTO (paid time off).
